Solid wood flooring 4 common problems and solutions

Solid wood flooring is favored by more and more consumers for its natural appearance and excellent performance, but solid wood flooring often encounters many problems in the process of purchase and paving. Today, Xiaobian collected 4 complaints that solid wood composite flooring is often encountered, and analyzed the causes of the problems and solutions for your reference.

First, why does the solid wood composite floor have discoloration after pavement?

The discoloration of wood is mainly caused by the absorption of ultraviolet light, and the degree of discoloration of wood sapwood and heartwood after absorbing ultraviolet light is different, which will lead to a certain color difference of the floor after paving. Multi-layer solid wood composite floor surface is natural wood, with the natural properties of wood, the resulting light discoloration is a normal phenomenon, not a product quality problem. The discoloration reaction of most wood is from light to deep, only a few wood is from deep to shallow, and the discoloration on the same floor is basically the same. Therefore, the paved floor should not be exposed to the sun for a long time, and the necessary shading measures should be taken appropriately.

Influence of external factors:

At present, in addition to the normal light discoloration, most of the complaints I have received are in geothermal environments. Before the geothermal floor is installed, the moisture content of most of the ground is about 20%, during the floor paving process, due to the damage of the moisture-proof film, geothermal heating, a large number of moisture from the damage into the floor, resulting in a sharp increase in the moisture content of the floor, some of the soluble matter in the wood dissolves and the role of some discoloration bacteria, resulting in wood depletion or blue change. In individual cases, in wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, the influence of external damp moisture can also cause local floor discoloration.

The discoloration of the floor is generated in the damp part of the floor, the interface between the discoloration area and the non-discoloration area is very obvious, and it is continuously distributed among several floors. The cause:

1, the ground is uneven, there are uneven small pit packages, after the floor is paved, the moisture-proof film is broken, resulting in breathability. Take measures to smooth the floor before installing it.

2. When paving, there is sand on the ground, which is not cleaned up, and the moisture-proof film is broken, resulting in breathable air. The measure is to clean the floor before paving.

3, when paving, the moisture-proof film connection is not sticky, resulting in breathability. The moisture-proof film should be tightly glued with tape, preferably with a width of more than 60mm plastic tape, to ensure that the moisture-proof film is not breathable.

4, individual areas use electric heating heating, due to the use of peak, valley, flat charging method, that is, after 12 o 'clock in the evening electricity half price (valley), many users turn off the switch during the day, after 12 o 'clock will open the electric heating equipment, and adjust the indoor temperature to 27 ~ 30 ° C, the surface temperature in a short period of time to reach nearly 100 ° C, causing damage to moisture-proof film, resulting in ventilation, Make the floor discolor, deformation. This violates the requirements of geothermal heating (the surface temperature is controlled at about 40 ° C). It is recommended that the user should change to 24-hour continuous heating, otherwise, the discoloration should be responsible for the user.

5, when the floor is installed to the connection with the wet interface, such as: bathroom, kitchen, dark balcony, etc., the moisture-proof film should be returned upward, and the moisture-proof film should be wrapped around the edge of the floor, preventing moisture from entering, reducing and avoiding the discoloration and deformation of the floor in the area.

Second, why will there be a large gap after the multi-layer solid wood composite floor pavement?

Multi-layer solid wood composite floor deformation is the smallest in many floors, the deformation is only about 1/20 of the maximum deformation of Solid Wood Floor string cutting wood, and large gaps should not be generated after pavement. In general, the maximum expansion and contraction of a single 125mm width floor in the northern region will not exceed 0.2mm.

After the correct paving, the actual moisture content of the floor in the northern region in summer is 12% to 13%, and in the dry and hot environment in winter (about 30% relative humidity of the air), the moisture content of the floor is 6% to 7%. In geothermal environment, the final equilibrium moisture content of the floor is 4% to 5%. That is to say, the moisture content of the floor after paving in summer (rainy season) should reach 12% to 13%, and the floor is in the maximum physical state.

If the floor is plastic suspension pavement, the floor of the room forms a whole, and when the moisture content changes, the floor of the room as a whole expands and contracts. At this time, if the two sides of the room are placed symmetrically heavier furniture. When winter comes, the room is relatively dry, the floor is bound to shrink, due to heavy pressure on both sides, is bound to cause the middle of the room floor in individual places, the cumulative dry shrinkage concentrated into 1 or several gaps, resulting in a larger floor gap. If the side of the floor is not glued, the standard room of 3 to 4m width, the dry shrinkage of the room floor as a whole is less than 5㎜ under geothermal environment conditions, and the maximum dry shrinkage of each floor is within 0.2㎜, which is difficult to see with the naked eye. No glue for easy maintenance, gaps can be evenly distributed. In order to prevent the floor from moving, a spring can be used between the floor and the wall side. It doesn't matter how the furniture is arranged.

In addition, although the multi-layer solid wood composite floor deformation is small, because the structure determines the multi-layer solid wood composite floor length and width direction are deformed, in general, the length of the floor is more than 8 times the width, under the same conditions, the length of the deformation is also a multiple of the width of the deformation, therefore, multi-layer solid wood composite floor end gap greater than the side gap is normal.

Three, multi-layer solid wood composite floor pavement after why will produce a sound?

Multilayer solid wood composite floor most of the method of laying directly on the ground, the reason for the sound of the floor is that people walk on the floor, the floor moves up and down, and the friction between the side and the side of the floor and the tongue and the mortising sound. The up and down movement of the floor is the main factor, in many cases, the floor has just been paved is not ringing, and it will produce a noise after use or paving for a period of time. When we receive complaints, the focus of many people's disputes is the loose floor mouth (too much gap between the tongue and the mortise).

If it is really loose mouth, why does the floor not ring just after paving, after a period of time to ring. Even if the floor of the loose mouth we lay it on the flat marble floor, no matter how we walk on the floor will not produce a sound, the reason is that the floor is in close contact with the ground, the floor does not move up and down when people walk, there is no relative movement between the side of the floor and the side, between the tongue and the mortise, there is no friction, and the sound naturally does not exist.

Therefore, to solve the problem of noise after the floor is paved, the key is to solve the process of people stepping on the floor to ensure that the floor does not move up and down.

Four, solid wood composite floor pavement after why will produce edge collapse phenomenon?

Since the beginning of summer, the rainfall in the north has gradually increased, the humidity of the air has increased, and the complaints of the collapse of the multi-layer solid wood composite floor and the lacquer locking composite floor (MDF as the substrate) are also increasing, according to the on-site situation analysis of the complaints, the main factors are as follows:

1. Product production factors

Multi-layer solid wood composite floor and lacquer locking composite floor (MDF as the substrate) after opening the tenon, in the process of roll coating or spray coating, paint spill to the floor groove, the actual width of the paint film is greater than the surface width of the floor, the floor edge produces hidden dangers, the more the paint spill, the greater the chance of the floor edge. For the first mortise and paint after the production process, paint spill phenomenon is inevitable, according to the corresponding product standards, although can not be judged as a quality problem, we must pay great attention to take measures to minimize the thickness of each painting, especially the spray coating is more important, the paint spill to a minimum.

2. Installation factors

Because the floor groove is too tight or the floor is slightly bent, the floor installation resistance is large, the floor installation knocking force is too large and uneven, resulting in local edge paint film is jagged off. It is characterized by the fact that it can be found after installation, irregular random distribution, and a small number of occurrences. The method is to use a floor head when the module is against the installed floor, and then gently tap the module with a rubber mallet to make the floor close to each other.

In addition, when the keel is used to install multi-layer solid wood composite floor, someone puts nails on the tongue, because the nail cap does not sink fully into the tongue, when installing the next piece of floor, there is a convex bag on the board surface of the tongue nail, and the edge of the bag will collapse seriously. Its characteristics are that the edge collapse can be found after installation, regular distribution, and the number of occurrences is small. When installing the floor, nail one side of the mortise.

3. The ground is uneven

Due to the uneven ground, after the floor is paved, there is a gap between the floor and the ground in some places, and during the process of people walking, the floor moves up and down, and the sides between the floors rub against each other. Its characteristic is that after the floor is paved, the edge collapse occurs in the area where people often walk, and it is local.

The measures taken are to measure the flatness of the ground before the floor paving, and the flatness should be less than 3mm/2000mm, and the ground that does not have the conditions should be levelled first and then paved.

4. Insufficient reserved gaps around the floor paving

Floor arch due to insufficient reserved gaps around the floor during floor paving. There is a gap between the floor and the ground. When people walk around, the floor moves up and down, and the sides between the floors rub against each other, causing the edge to collapse. It is characterized by the collapse of the floor occurs more after a period of time after paving, in the area where people often walk, and it is more than one point, observing the floor and the wall have been in close contact. Measures to be taken are to leave enough gaps around the floor, especially in the doorway, wall kitchen, balcony and other areas to leave gaps to ensure that the reserved gaps are uniform. When the length of pavement exceeds 8m, partition and bridge should be done.

5, moisture-proof film breathable

After the floor is paved, because the moisture-proof film connection is not sealed with tape, the moisture-proof film in some places is damaged during the paving process, causing the ground moisture leakage, a large amount of moisture into the back of the floor, the floor produces uneven expansion, causing the floor deformation, slight distortion, and a gap between the floor and the ground in some areas. When people walk, the floor moves up and down, and the sides between the floors rub against each other, causing the edge to crumble. It is characterized by the possibility of gaps between the wall and the floor. The measures to be taken are to seal the joints of the moisture-proof film with tape before the floor is paved to ensure that it is not breathable.

6, indoor furniture (heavy objects) placed symmetrically

After the floor paving, due to the furniture, bookcases, fish tanks and other heavier items placed symmetrically on both sides of the room, the floor is pressed, preventing the floor from absorbing moisture and expanding, the floor can not move, resulting in regional bulging, causing the floor in the area to collapse during the process of people walking. The measures taken are to place heavy objects on one side as much as possible to ensure that one side of the floor moves freely.
